Welcome to Appraising Plus.

Our firm is experienced in evaluating and valuing a wide range of tangible personal property. Our services include Insurance Appraisals, Estate Appraisals, Divorce, Charitable Gifting, Equitable Distribution Appraisals and much more.

John Kline has been an avid longtime collector of antiques, fine art, books and coins. He first linked that passion to his work in his 25 years as a non-profit professional with organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, the Diocese of Maryland, American Cancer Society and the Episcopal Church Foundation of NY.  Mr. Kline applied his expertise to the gift-in-kind donation process in conjunction with charitable estate planning, evaluating value for clients and these charitable institutions.  John has proven experience and success in guiding clients and assisting legal professionals through all aspects of the appraisal process. He keeps abreast of current trends in the charitable giving, antiques, auction industry and collectible markets.

In 2007, John formed his own company, AppraisingPLUS, to devote more time to his lifelong passion for antiques and collectibles. He has earned both the International Society of Appraiser’s (ISA) and the Graduate Personal Property Appraiser’s (GPPA) certifications, which are nationally recognized designations. Both organizations have given him in-depth education in personal property research techniques, study of personal property identification, and legal issues in the form of appraiser as an expert witness.  Also, John holds USPAP, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal, credentials which are required for every certified appraiser.

In addition, John is a licensed auctioneer in the state of North Carolina. This exposure allows him to keep up with ever-changing antique and personal property markets that enable him to provide his clients with the most recent information and trends of utilizing the auction method as a valuable option to liquidating assets.

AppraisingPLUS specializes in appraisal services; including appraiser as an expert witness, personal property appraisals, insurance valuations, liquidation services, home equitable distribution plans, and other related services.

Mr. Kline maintains a finger on the pulse in the community and non-profit arenas as past President of Durham School of the Arts Foundation and Senior Trustee of the Elizabeth Stifel Kline Foundation and among other community endeavors.
